Wolverhampton Flight

After the narrow cutting we turned onto the Birmingham Canal Navigations, starting with the Wolverhampton Flight. A flight of locks is a series of locks closely spaced. Sometimes with a pound (pond) of water little more than a boat length between locks.
Charlene and boat -
first under the bridge and then into the lock.

As you can see the path of the canal follows the old industrial routes

If you look closely in the distance you can see the next lock.

Amos managed the locks this day. The flight consists of 21 locks, over a distance of a little less than 2 miles, and raises the level of the canal 132 feet. We did it in four hours.
